Flowerdale Hall message from Builders
The builders would like to remind everyone that the Flowerdale Hall is currently off limits to everyone.
The floor is at a critical stage of its resealing process, and the builders have asked that NO ONE enter the hall until that process is finished otherwise footprints, dust, and other residues left behind by footprints will be captured under the sealant / lacquer.
A verbal request to this effect was ignored and the builders are quite angry. They are working hard to get the floor sealed so the building will be ready for re-use as soon as possible, and ask for our cooperation.
Thank you for your assistance.

Mark of Recovery - the Flowerdale Tattoo
As part of the Regional Arts Victoria Illuminated by Fire arts project Malcolm McKinnon has produced a short video on the story of how people in Flowerdale have had the Tree symbol tattooed on their person.
Check out Malcolm's post. It is amazing how the design came from a T-Shirt design competition and has grown to be a real symbol of the Community Spirit.

Hoof Over Hills does it Again
Notwithstanding heavy rain, snowfalls, mud and cold Hoof Over Hills 2010 was once again a resounding success. On Saturday 162 hardy riders set out for the all day trail ride and from all accounts had a great day.
Lots of mud but it all turned out well
The Saturday Night celebration was well attended with gumboots the essential footwear as the mud was a few inches deep. A new waterway Kinlochiel Creek was running through the centre of the celebrations with the run off from the rain from the days before. It was all handled in stride with a few pallets acting as stepping stones and I didn't see anyone fall in.
The weather didn't stop the riders
Good to see the new Community Bus getting plenty of use at Hoof over Hills
The spit roast was fantastic and there was entertainment from the kids from Flowerdale Primary School, Pete Auty with a couple of poems and of course the resident Hoof Over Hills band Ruckus.
On a sadder note Alan and Debbie Schultz let the crowd know that HOH2010 was the last one to be held at Kinlochiel. Alan and Debbie have hosted HOH for 7 years and have done an amazing job and put up with a heap of disruption, none more than this year with the rain and mud. The crowd gave Alan and Deb three cheers to show the deep appreciation for running the event which has raised well over $100,000 for the School.
The Sunday ride was lower key but there were still plenty of riders out and about. Once again the team of volunteers were setting up and providing food and refreshments to the riders with the speed and precision of a well honed formula one team.
A river runs through it
Well done to the organisers for another great Community Event.

Enlightened Spirits going strong
Sharon Collins Enlightened Spirits arts project is going along amazingly well. Around 200 hands have been cast and the finished results look amazing.
To keep up to date with the project you can follow it on the Enlightened Spirits Facebook page and there are regular posts on the Regional Arts Victoria "Illuminated by Fire" blog.
This project is going really well and congratulation to Sharon Collins for all her great work. Sharon is looking for Baby Formula tins and shoe boxes to use for the castings so make sure you save them and pass them on.
